Support for Junior and Under-Represented Researchers

Support for junior and under-represented researchers

The National Science Foundation (NSF) and W-IE-N-ER electronics have made generous contributions targeted at supporting the attendance of junior and under-represented researchers at LRT 2015. In an attempt to balance between providing significant support levels and assisting the largest number of junior and under-represented researchers at LRT 2015, the Local Organizing Committee intends to defray the attendance cost for selected sponsorship awardees by approximately 50% through covering the registration cost and hotel-lodging for three nights. The sponsorship awardee would be responsible for travel and food.

The Local Organizing Committee requests a short (less than 1 page) “application” from interested potential attendees containing the following information:

Attendee information:
  • Name and Institution
  • Contact information (e-mail, telephone, mailing address)
  • Research advisor (if applicable)
Description of interest:
  • Research interest relevant to LRT 2015 Workshop topics
  • Brief statement of how attendance will support educational or research goals
Rational for sponsorship assistance
  • Please briefly describe how sponsorship will facilitate attendance

The application serves two purposes:
  1. To ensure each recipient is earnestly engaged in the broad topical area addressed by the LRT Workshop, either educationally or via research.
  2. For evaluating need, the Local Organizing Committee will review applications seeking to support those who would not otherwise be unable to attend.

Please send applications to the Local Organizing Committee via the LRT 2015 email address (LRT2015@pnnl.gov) with an e-mail subject of “Support Application”.

Sponsorship awards will be announced on February 25, 2015. We apologize for such short time periods of application and notification prior to the Workshop.
